Changing Battery Working Modes can be accessed by clicking on the current working mode.

There are currently 3 Battery Working Modes available amongst other settings.

![APP\_working mode\_options1](https://support.atmoce-au.com/hs-fs/hubfs/AU%20KB%20Database%20-%20Do%20not%20delete/APP_working%20mode_options1.webp?width=300&height=533&name=APP_working%20mode_options1.webp)![APP\_working mode\_options2](https://support.atmoce-au.com/hs-fs/hubfs/AU%20KB%20Database%20-%20Do%20not%20delete/APP_working%20mode_options2.webp?width=300&height=449&name=APP_working%20mode_options2.webp)

#### Storm Guard

Storm Guard is designed for energy availability during severe weather or potential power outage scenarios. This feature is recommended when maximum available backup capacity is required in advance.

If enabled, when a 'warning-level' alert is issued, the battery will be force charged from grid to the configured **Charge limit** (under **Power Limit**) to ensure sufficient backup power is available for critical loads.

1. Storm Guard is only available only when a **MC100PRO** (or Backup Box)is installed.
2. This is setting does not take into account the **Grid Recharging** setting. Disable **Storm Guard** if grid charging is not desired.

### Working Mode

#### AI Mode

Based on deep learning and AI-powered forecasting optimisation, AI Mode actively analyses historical electricity prices, weather conditions, PV generation, and user load profiles.

It predicts future trends and dynamically generates an optimised energy scheduling strategy to improve economic performance and system efficiciency. The strategy can be adjusted in real time to help ensure stable returns and improve user benefits.

AI Mode will only show if electricity tariff settings have been entered [**here**](https://support.atmoce-au.com/knowledge-base/electricity-price-settings?hsLang=en-gb),

#### Self-powered

Self-powered mode is the most commonly used mode. When selected, it will prioritise self-consumption of solar power and optimise energy self-sufficiency.

1. Excess PV power (PV power \> load power) will be used to charge the batteries to the **Charge limit** before feeding into the grid.
2. Conversely, when PV power \< load power, the batteries will discharge power to the **Discharge limit** (or **Backup Reserve** if applicable) before the system consumes power from the grid.

#### Time of use (TOU)

TOU mode can used to take advantage of local electricity prices, charging during off-peak periods and discharging during high peak periods.

Users can manually configure battery charging and discharging schedules. Different schedules for different months/times can be employed for varying strategies.

To create/adjust a schedule:

1. Click on **Edit**.
2. Amend the current setting, or click on the **+** symbol to create a new schedule.
3. Click **Save**.

Battery action definition:

- **Charged** - Forces the battery to charge power from solar power or the grid.
- **Discharged**- Forces the battery to discharge power to the load or the grid.
- **Self-powered** - Prioritises solar energy for self-consumption and minimises grid usage.

  ![APP\_working mode\_tou1](https://support.atmoce-au.com/hs-fs/hubfs/AU%20KB%20Database%20-%20Do%20not%20delete/APP_working%20mode_tou1.webp?width=280&height=620&name=APP_working%20mode_tou1.webp) ![undefined-1](https://support.atmoce-au.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-1.jpeg?width=280&height=620&name=undefined-1.jpeg)

The schedules can be further customised by applying different schedules for different days (eg. every day, Mon - Fri, Sat and Sun etc.). To do this:

1. Click **\>**.
2. Select Repeat options.
3. Click **OK**.

**Grid Recharging** and **Export Power to Grid** are required to be enabled for TOU mode to work correctly.
If Grid-Recharging is disabled, charging can only take place from available solar energy during the charge window.

### More

#### Grid Recharging

When enabled, it allows the batteries to charge from the grid. The **Maximum Charging Power** and **End-of-Charge SOC** can be configured to control the grid charging rate and the maximum SOC reached using grid power.

 ![APP\_working mode\_grid recharging](https://support.atmoce-au.com/hs-fs/hubfs/AU%20KB%20Database%20-%20Do%20not%20delete/APP_working%20mode_grid%20recharging.webp?width=300&height=664&name=APP_working%20mode_grid%20recharging.webp)

#### Export Power to Grid

When enabled, it allows the batteries to export energy to the grid. The **Maximum Export Power** and **Export Cutoff** **SOC** can be configured.

 ![APP\_working mode\_export](https://support.atmoce-au.com/hs-fs/hubfs/AU%20KB%20Database%20-%20Do%20not%20delete/APP_working%20mode_export.webp?width=300&height=665&name=APP_working%20mode_export.webp)

This parameter does not limit the total PV / system export power. Export limitation settings can be found [**here**](https://support.atmoce-au.com/knowledge-base/export-limitation-settings?hsLang=en-gb).

#### Matrix Phase Control

Matrix Phase Control enables independent charge and discharge control of each phase (L1, L2, L3) in a 3 phase system. When enabled, users can also view the exact power flows across each phase. More information can be found **[here](https://support.atmoce-au.com/knowledge-base/matrix-phase-control?hsLang=en-gb)**.

Matrix Phase Control is only available in 3 phase systems.

#### Power Limit

Power limit allows the maximum **Charge Limit** and **Discharge Limit** to be configured. Where backup functionality is available, the **Backup Reserve** can be configured.

Under normal operation, the batteries will discharge to the Backup Reserve SOC. And during backup operation, the batteries can discharge further to the Discharge Limit.
