# Generator
## Requirements and instructions to install a 3rd party generator with the MC100PRO
Generators can be installed with the MC100PRO Combiner Box, particularly for off grid or backup applications.
For generator control, an ATS feedback signal and generator remote start signal needs to be connected to the Combiner Box.
1. The ATS feedback signal is used to inform the system of grid normal / abnormal situations, and
2. The system can afterwards send a start/stop command to the generator via the generator remote start signal.
ATS requirements:
- DI / GND is a status input, not a control output.
- ATS must operate in automatic mode.
- ATS feedback signal must be a passive dry contact (voltage-free).
- ATS feedback delay must be within +/- 100 ms.
### ATS Feedback Input
1. Connect the ATS DO port to the Combiner Box DI / GND terminals.
### Generator Control Output
1. Connect the generator remote start port to the Combiner Box DO1-1 / DO1-2 terminals.
The specific location and naming of the Combiner Box terminals can differ depending on the Combiner Box version and phase variant. Please always doublecheck the Combiner Box labelling when onsite.
