[Site Configuration](https://support.atmoce-au.com/knowledge-base/site-configuration?hsLang=en-gb) 17 September 2026 # Matrix Phase Control ## Explanation of the Matrix Phase Control and how to enable and view it Matrix Phase Control is only available in 3 phase systems. ### What is it? Matrix Phase Control enables independent charge and discharge control of each phase (L1, L2, L3) in a 3 phase system.  Each M-ELV battery contains 6 inverter power modules, with 2 modules assigned to each phase. This architecture allows the 3 phases to operate independently instead of being controlled as 1 combined 3 phase output. As such, the system dynamically allocates battery power based on real-time phase load conditions, achieving independent phase regulation and intricate energy management. In the example below, we see: 1. The PV inverter generating equal amounts of power across all 3 phases, 2. Varying load power requirements on each phase, 3. The battery simultaneously discharging on phase 2, and charging on phases 1 and 3, and 4. 0 grid consumption or feed-in. ![APP\_matrix\_explain](https://support.atmoce-au.com/hs-fs/hubfs/AU%20KB%20Database%20-%20Do%20not%20delete/APP_matrix_explain.webp?width=632&height=458&name=APP_matrix_explain.webp) This reduces phase imbalance and overall grid reliance.
